Getting Started with Named Punches

Named Punches allow you to define qualifying rules for Members to earn punches on a Punch Card. A Punch Card can have only one Named Punch, or it can optionally have multiple Named Punches, which allows you to treat each punch as a unique scenario. For example, Named Punches can be used to incentivize your Members to try different products. By assigning a different product to each Named Punch, a Member could complete the Punch Card only by purchasing all the different products across all Named Punches.

Note: Named Punches are available only for the Standard Punch Card Type.

The requirements for earning a Named Punch are defined using Punch Criteria. Punch Criteria represent the logical condition (or conditions) that the purchase must meet for the Member to successfully earn the punch. The platform supports a wide range of Punch Criteria options, such as specific products, purchase subtotal, timing (such as day of the week or month), and payment method, for example.

You can create and manage your Named Punches on the Named Punches tab of the Punch Card Details screen.

Note: Named Punches are available only for clients who use the Point of Sale (POS) API to process orders. Clients using other order processing API endpoints, or who import orders into the Loyalty platform, must use Triggered Actions to evaluate activities and to issue punches. Please speak with your Marigold team to discuss using Punch Cards with other systems.
